Raggedy Bees Update..

As the days get cooler the Raggedy Bees are snuggled up in their hives taking a well earned rest after the busy season. The hives are full of honey to feed them over the winter and the drones (male bees) have been unceremoniously kicked out of the colonies! This is because they are extra mouths to feed and serve no purpose in the winter time when they can't leave the hive to mate with local queens.

In the spring time when the Queen Bee starts laying again she will lay some unfertilised eggs which will turn into male drones aswell as fertilised eggs which will grow inti female workers in the colony.
